Description

Short route: ideal for a quick workout or an introduction to mountain trail running, starting from the resort and offering a panoramic view from the summit of Les Sûres at 1,860 meters of the Oisans mountain range and the region’s remarkable peaks

Terrain difficulty: The first section is an uphill run that’s runnable almost all the way to the summit, followed by a completely downhill section on fairly wide, relatively easy trails from the edge of the forest to the resort.

Rideability: Very smooth despite the final climb reaching a gradient of up to 23%.

Beautiful views of the resort and the Écrins massif await you in a varied setting!

This route passes near alpine pastures on the Sûres at the end of the season (starting in August), so you may encounter livestock guard dogs. Check with the tourist office or visit Pasto-kézako.fr for guidance on how to interact with them. Hiking with your dog? Your dog must be kept on a leash throughout the hike but should be let off the leash if you encounter a guard dog so that the interaction can take place as naturally as possible. Dogs that are poorly socialized or hunting dogs are strongly discouraged.

Difficult sections

The descent from the summit requires caution, as the route crosses downhill mountain bike trails where walking is prohibited.

Guided steps

From Place des Orgières, head toward the Vacancéole residence.

Walk past it until you reach the end of the road, where you’ll find a trail that goes behind the building on the right.

Stay on this vehicle-accessible trail until you reach the Col de Maronne. At this intersection, turn left and take the trail through the grass that leads uphill.

Behind the building on your right, head up to the right at an intersection, following the yellow sign for “LES SURES.”

Once you reach the summit, a yellow sign will point you toward “Piégut.”

At the entrance to the forest, follow the signs for “Auris Station” and “Les Trois Chemins” to return to the resort.
