Col de Maronne par les Sûres - Hiking from the resort of Auris-en-Oisans

A hike in the heart of the highest spruce forest on Europe's southern slopes! This area is regularly frequented by chamois, so stay alert and discrete.

ITINERARY
From Place des Orgières, the route joins Place des Écrins via the footpath behind the tourist office. At the end of Place des Écrins, turn right up Rue de Piégut to the resort's last parking lot. Just before this, on your right, you'll find the access to the trail with a yellow PDIPR sign pointing you in the direction of Les Sûres. A short climb through the forest takes you to a gently ascending track. At the end of this, take the path to the right, still heading for Les Sûres. You'll then skirt the lush green pistes of Auris-en-Oisans. On the other side, you'll overlook the Romanche valley. Once you've reached Les Sûres, the view of the Bourg d'Oisans plain awaits you! You'll also catch a glimpse of the Alpe d'Huez resort, and the massifs of Belledonne, Grandes Rousses, Taillefer and Écrins.
You can then return to the resort via the Col de Maronne.
