Description

The Col de l'Izoard is one of the Tour de France's most legendary passes. Climb it from another famous pass in the Alps: the Col du Lautaret!
Detailed itinerary : - From the parking lot, turn right towards Briançon on the RD 1091 and head down the Serre Chevalier valley. - Once in Le Monêtier-les-Bains, cross the village on the RD 1091 and continue towards Briançon. - At La Salle Les Alpes, stay on the main RD 1091 and continue towards Briançon - At Chantemerle, cross the Serre Chevalier 1350 resort in the direction of Briançon. - Once in Briançon, continue towards Grenoble. At the Alpes traffic circle (Géant Casino is just below), head for Grenoble on the RN 94. Pass Géant Casino (on the left). Leave the crossroads on your left. Next, the road has two lanes, so take the left fork and head for Centre Ville, Avenue du Général Barbot. - Drive down Avenue du Général Barbot. At the next traffic circle, continue straight ahead on Avenue du 159e RIA. - At the next traffic circle, take the 2nd exit onto Rue Centrale (one-way street). - At the end of Rue Centrale, take the 3rd exit at the traffic circle, towards Col de l'Izoard. Continue on the RD 902 as far as Cervières. - Once in Cervières, continue on the RD 902 towards the Col de l'Izoard. Cross the hamlet of Le Laus and climb the 7 km to the top of the pass. - Return by the same route. - On arrival in Briançon, at the Col de l'Izoard traffic circle, take the 4th exit and then the 1st road on the left to pass the E.LECLERC store (on your left). At the traffic circle in front of the store, take the 1st exit on the right. At the next traffic circle (Crédit Mutuel bank on your right), also take the 1st exit on the right. At the next traffic circle, take the 4th exit onto Avenue du 159e RIA. - The rest of the route is the same until you reach the top of the Col du Lautaret.
