Discover the balcons de l'Oisans via the Lac du Verney by road bike. An emotional day combining sporting feats and high mountain scenery.
From the Téléphérique parking lot, turn left towards Grenoble for about 15 km. During these 15 km, take care when crossing the Grand Clos and Chambon tunnels, which are poorly lit, and make sure you are visible to other vehicles.
After passing the Chambon dam, continue towards Le Freney-d'Oisans.
At Le Freney-d'Oisans, turn right onto the D211a road, after the service station, in the direction of Auris-sur-Oisans, for about 6 km. Follow the road to the hamlet of La Balme.
Continue on the D211a road, known as the "route de la Roche", towards La Garde en Oisans. This narrow road is punctuated by 3 tunnels, carved into the cliff face.
In La Garde en Oisans, turn right at the church crossroads, towards Alpe d'Huez.
In Huez, take Avenue du Moulin (D211C) towards Villard-Reculas. In Villard-Reculas, continue on the D44, at the crossroads with the road to the Oz-en-Oisans resort, turn left and descend over Lac du Verney to join the D 526 towards Rivier d'Allemond - Col de la Croix de Fer.
Leaving Le Vernet, go straight on for about 1.5 km on the D 526, then turn left to reach the hamlet of Le Mollard. Cross the hamlet and rejoin the D526. Turn right and head for Allemond on the D43.
Go past the church and downhill to the crossroads with the D1091, then turn left towards Bourg d'Oisans.
At the entrance to Bourg d'Oisans, go straight ahead at the traffic circle to enter the town center. From the town center, near the Carrefour Express on your left, continue on the main road, which bends slightly to the left, towards Briançon, and continue straight on until you leave the town.
After crossing the bridge over the Romanche, take the first right at the traffic circle towards Briançon and keep straight on.
At the end of the straight, take the bend on the left, then head up the Romanche valley on the D1091 until you return to La Grave.
