La Garde-en-Oisans balcony trail to Les Sures

A challenging balcony trail and a great day's walk to take in the sights!

ITINERARY
The path climbs gradually along the cliff before winding its way up to the ridge. It then turns due west, continuing up along the forest edge before overlooking Auris-en-Oisans and its resort. The trail continues its gradual ascent to Les Sures.

Take a breath, have a picnic, admire... what a reward! The path is vertiginous, with the risk of falling (avoid in wet weather).

• Panoramic view of the famous Prégentil cliff and its geological folds.
• Be discreet, chamois are never far away.
• View of La Meije and La Muzelle (Écrins massif)

• Auris-en-Oisans and its 9 traditional hamlets, including Cours, home to a chapel, a rural museum and a number of sundials (signs of plenty of sunshine).
• Numerous chapels: the chapelle des Anges, some of whose objects are listed as historic monuments, and the chapelle Saint-Jean-Baptiste, whose distinctive wooden bell tower.
• The oratories, all preserved.
• The Romanesque church.
