Leaving Rochetaillée (junction D526 & D44), towards the Col du Glandon, the route reaches the small village of Villard-Reculas, perched high above the Romanche valley. The climb ends at the Pas de la Confession on the road to Huez.
The first access road to Villard-Reculas, the Route de la Confession is exceptional for: its construction, a challenge for its time; its exposure between two cliffs; its legend, a reference to its name; and the breathtaking view it still offers.
Take the D526 towards Villard-Reculas from Rochetaillée. At the first crossroads after the bridge, turn right onto the D44.
In the hamlet of La Boulangeard, continue on the D44b towards Villard-Reculas until you reach the village resort.
Pass through Villard-Reculas, then continue on the D211b towards Pas de la Confession.
