YOU'RE HIKING IN THE HEART OF THE ECRINS NATIONAL PARK
The Écrins massif is an exceptional area, open to all, with a rare natural, cultural and landscape heritage. To protect these treasures, the heart of the park is marked with blue-white-red painted flags, where regulations must be respected. Please take note of them when planning your hike to preserve this collective asset on the ecrins-parcnational.fr website.
ITINERARY
From the Combe Noire stop sign, follow the road for 800 m. At the La Bérarde sign, the trail is on your left towards Le Chatelleret. The ascent begins amid ancient terraces once shaped and cultivated. Leave the Chatelleret path and continue up to the tête de la maye. After a 30-minute ascent, the path skirts small rocky bars and crosses slabs equipped with bars and cables. Despite the rugged terrain, the view of La Bérarde and the Vénéon valley is superb. The last part of the climb is easier. The arrival at the summit, with its 360° panorama of the Oisans peaks, is a wonderful reward.
THINGS TO SEE ALONG THE WAY
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Warning: this is a well-equipped but particularly vertiginous route. It is not recommended for people prone to vertigo or after rainy weather, as the slabs remain wet and slippery.
